Following a pre-application consultation process held during Summer 2020, Uphall Estates Ltd have now submitted an application for Planning Permission in Principle for a mixed-use development at land east of Station Road, Uphall.

The application comprises residential, commercial units, park and ride car park, solar voltaic array and associated works.

The application is supported by a full Environmental Assessment Report and associated technical studies to support the proposals which will redevelop an area historically used by the oil shale industry to provide a highly sustainable new neighbourhood with a range of positive local economic benefits, including:

  • range of up to 200 market and affordable homes (supported by Dunedin Canmore Housing Association)
  • local commercial units (up to 1,000m2 of ground floor units with flats above) including homeworking hub and facilities to enhance existing 20-minute neighbourhood credentials
  • 150 space Park and Ride car park (increasing current capacity at Uphall rail station by 50%)
  • cycle hub with associated facilities at interchange between public transport and active travel routes
  • 2MW solar renewable energy source
  • new greenspace plus footpath links across Stankards Bing increasing connectivity and public access

The application includes a Pre-Application Consultation report which details the consultation undertaken including the online live Q&A in July 2020.  Once registered by the Council, all reports and plans will be available to view via their online planning portal and there will be a formal period for comments notified by the Council.

The application will then be fully considered by West Lothian Council over the coming months and we look forward to discussing the project further with the local community and Council officers.
